What do you get for your money?
The HP EliteBook 8 G2i 16 is particularly aimed at users who work extensively with numbers, spreadsheets or large documents on their laptop. The integrated numeric keypad makes entering long sequences of numbers much easier and is particularly useful for Excel, statistics, accounting or data analysis. At the same time, the 16-inch chassis provides enough space for a full-size keyboard without requiring a significantly heavier workstation.The 16-inch display in a 16:10 format offers plenty of workspace with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a sharp image. The anti-glare surface and 400 nits of brightness are comfortable for longer workdays, while the 120 Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and navigation. With 100% DCI-P3 coverage, the display is also well suited to applications where accurate color reproduction is important.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD provide enough performance for typical study tasks, extensive spreadsheets, programming and data analysis. The RAM is installed as a single 16 GB module; a second slot remains free and allows the memory to be upgraded to up to 64 GB later.
At 1.7 kg, the EliteBook is still reasonably portable for a 16-inch device, but is less focused on maximum mobility than more compact 14-inch models. The 77 Wh battery provides a comparatively large energy reserve. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports and an additional USB-C port also make it easy to connect the device to a docking station and multiple external displays.
